Former Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Dhammika Ranatunga, has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The arrest was made at around 11.15 a.m. on 15 December 2025. According to CIABOC, the suspect is accused of cancelling three long-term fuel procurement tenders planned for the 2017–2018 period and instead carrying out spot tenders at higher prices, causing an estimated loss of nearly Rs. 800 million to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

The former CPC Chairman is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, while further investigations are underway.
