U.S. and Indian Air Force aircraft depart Sri Lanka

Aircraft of the United States Air Force and the Indian Air Force that arrived in Sri Lanka for humanitarian assistance have departed the island after successfully completing their missions.

In the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwa, which caused widespread disaster conditions across the country, several friendly nations extended significant support to Sri Lanka by assisting with relief operations, including aerial missions, search and rescue efforts, and the delivery of humanitarian aid.

As part of this assistance, a humanitarian relief team comprising 60 personnel from the United States Air Force arrived in Sri Lanka with two C-130J aircraft. The team was deployed from December 7 to December 13, 2025, to support relief and recovery operations in disaster-affected areas.

The Government of Sri Lanka expressed its appreciation to the United States and India for their timely support and cooperation, which played a vital role in strengthening ongoing disaster response and humanitarian relief efforts.
