WHO pledges support for restoration of flood-damaged hospitals

A special meeting was held this afternoon (11) at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media with Dr. Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav, the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Sri Lanka, to review the restoration of health services at hospitals damaged by floods caused by Cyclone Ditwa.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the step-by-step recovery and upgrading of services at Chalawatha District General Hospital, Nuwara Eliya General Hospital, and Mahiyanganaya Primary Hospital, all of which were affected by the recent disaster.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Pandav emphasized that the WHO is committed to providing priority support for all urgent requests made by the Ministry of Health to ensure the rapid restoration of essential healthcare services.

Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, and Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, were also present at the meeting, along with senior health officials.
