Sri Lanka’s worker remittances rose significantly in November 2025, reaching USD 673.4 million, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). This marks a notable 27 percent increase compared to November 2024, when remittances stood at USD 530.1 million.

The Central Bank further reported that total inflows from worker remittances during the period from January to November 2025 amounted to USD 7.19 billion. This represents a strong year-on-year growth of 20.7 percent, reflecting improved foreign employment earnings and increased confidence in formal remittance channels.

The continued growth in remittances is expected to provide vital support to Sri Lanka’s external sector and contribute positively to foreign exchange reserves.
