A 31-year-old resident of Welipenna has been arrested by the Computer Crimes Investigation Division’s Northwestern Provincial Sub-Unit over a large-scale online fraud.
According to the Division, investigations were launched following a complaint that money had been fraudulently credited to an account under the guise of an online money-making opportunity. The suspect had reportedly connected the victim to a Telegram group and defrauded him of Rs. 6,860,000.
Officers of the Northwestern Provincial Sub-Unit arrested the suspect yesterday.
