The Sri Lanka Navy continues to extend unwavering assistance to restore normalcy in the lives of people affected by the recent adverse weather conditions.

Under a special relief operation launched in coordination with the Puttalam Wanathavilluwa Divisional Secretariat, humanitarian aid was distributed to residents of the Pukkulam fishing village on the 9th of December.

Due to the severe weather, the collapse of a bridge along the Nayaru–Kalappuwa area in the Mullaitivu District has hindered safe civilian movement. Since December 1, 2025, the Navy has deployed eight dinghy boats to ensure the safe transportation of residents between Nayaru and Kokkilai. So far, the Navy has transported 2,377 individuals and 175 motorcycles across the affected stretch.

Additionally, the Navy has cleaned and restored 438 drinking water wells that were rendered unusable due to flooding, making them safe for public consumption. Naval teams are also continuously engaged in cleaning houses, schools, and public institutions damaged by floodwaters.

Furthermore, the Navy supported the rapid unloading of humanitarian aid brought to Sri Lanka by Indian naval vessels for disaster-affected communities. The Sri Lanka Navy continues to play a vital role in the distribution of relief supplies, ensuring timely support to those in need.
