Sri Lanka’s Rebuilding Sri Lanka programme, launched to support national recovery efforts following the severe devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, has so far received Rs. 1,893 million, according to Dr. Harshana Suriya-Peruma, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies.

He stated that these funds will be allocated to accelerate relief, reconstruction, and long-term rehabilitation activities in the worst-affected regions. The programme aims to restore essential infrastructure, support displaced families, and strengthen disaster-resilience measures to prevent similar large-scale impacts in the future.

Authorities say additional contributions from development partners and donors are expected as recovery efforts continue.
