More than 1.8 million people across 25 districts have been affected by the severe weather conditions triggered by Cyclone Ditwah, according to the latest situation report issued by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) at 6.00 a.m. today (10).
The DMC reports that 529,741 families are impacted, with significant damage to homes, widespread flooding, and multiple landslides. At least 639 deaths have been confirmed, while 203 people remain missing due to incidents linked to the extreme weather.
A total of 5,350 houses have been fully damaged, while 86,882 have suffered partial damage across the island. Authorities have opened 878 safety centres, now sheltering 27,145 families—a total of 86,040 individuals displaced from their homes.
