The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed a notable upward trend yesterday (09), with key market indices closing sharply higher.

By the end of the trading session, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) had surged by 439.46 points, reaching 22,034.32. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 Index rose by 77.47 points, closing at 6,004.11.

A total of 197 listed companies saw an increase in their share prices during the session. Among the top contributors to the ASPI’s positive movement were Colombo Dockyard, Ceylinco Holdings, Commercial Bank, Sampath Bank, and ACL Cables, which provided strong upward momentum.

The day’s market turnover amounted to Rs. 3.88 billion, reflecting active investor participation across sectors.
