The Department of Wildlife Conservation has closed all roads within Horton Plains National Park to regular traffic, limiting access solely to local and foreign tourists from Sunday (7).
The roads were temporarily opened for general use during the recent islandwide disaster, but officials say the measure is no longer necessary as key routes in Nuwara Eliya have now been restored.
Visitors entering the park must purchase tickets as usual. Authorities emphasized that Horton Plains is a protected national park, and normal vehicle movement will not be allowed to resume.
The Department urged the public to use alternate restored routes and reaffirmed that conservation priorities remain paramount within the park.
