The official election was held today at the Monaragala District Secretariat auditorium with the participation of relevant officials and traditional custodians of the Devalaya. Following the conclusion of the voting process, Madushanka was declared the successful candidate.
The appointment marks a significant responsibility, as the Basnayake Nilame plays a key role in overseeing the administration, cultural rituals, and traditional activities of one of the country’s most revered religious sites.
Madushanka is expected to assume duties immediately and continue the longstanding traditions associated with the sacred Kataragama Devalaya.
