Northeast monsoon strengthens; heavy showers expected in several provinces
The Northeast monsoon conditions are gradually establishing over the island, bringing increased rainfall to several regions. Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva provinces.
According to forecasts, heavy showers exceeding 100mm are likely in parts of the Northern, Eastern, and North-Central provinces.
Authorities urge the public to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages from heavy rain, strong winds, and severe lightning during thundershowers.
