Around 12,000 kilograms of meat stored at a livestock farm in the Anuradhapura District was sealed today after Public Health Inspectors found it unfit for human consumption, the Public Health Inspectors Union said..
According to officials, the stock had spoiled after floodwaters entered the facility and a power outage disrupted the refrigeration system. The inspection was carried out following a complaint lodged with the Disaster Management Hotline (1926), operated under the Health and Media Ministry.
Public Health Inspectors subsequently visited the site and sealed the entire stock, Union Chairman Pradeep Boralessa said.
Samples of the meat to be sent to the Government Analyst today for further examination, and legal action will follow based on the findings, officials added.
