He made these remarks yesterday afternoon while addressing the Matale District Coordinating Committee meeting.
Emphasising the urgent need to support communities affected by recent disasters, the President instructed relevant authorities to ensure that compensation for damaged agricultural lands is fully disbursed by December 30.
He further stressed that all payments must be made only after careful and thorough verification, ensuring assistance reaches only those farmers who are genuinely eligible. Accuracy and accountability in public service are essential to prevent misuse of state funds, he added.
The President also highlighted that transparent and credible data collection is vital for developing long-term solutions and preventing delays in relief measures.
