The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended the landslide warning issued for several areas of the island. The NBRO announced that the warning will remain in effect from 4:00 p.m. today (07) until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (08).

The extension follows reports of rainfall exceeding 75mm during the past 24 hours. The NBRO warns that if heavy rain continues, there is an increased risk of landslides, slope failures, and ground subsidence. Residents in the affected areas are urged to move to safe locations immediately if they notice any signs of danger.

Accordingly, red-level landslide warnings have been issued for several areas in the Kandy, Colombo, Kegalle, Kurunegala, and Matale districts.

The NBRO advises residents in these areas to remain highly alert and follow all safety instructions issued by authorities.
