The Department of Meteorology warns that intermittent showers can be expected over the sea areas from Trincomalee to Mullaitivu, extending up to Mannar via Kankasanthurai, during the next 24 hours.

It further states that the sea areas from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Kankasanthurai, and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara, may become fairly rough at times. Fishermen and naval communities are advised to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, the Northeast monsoon conditions are gradually establishing over the island. As a result, showers are likely this afternoon, particularly in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Matale District.

The department also urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
