As support grows for students affected by the country’s adverse weather conditions, the Government has urged the public to avoid unverified fundraisers and ensure that donations are made only through officially designated channels.
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education said several official bank accounts have been opened to receive financial assistance from both local and international donors. These accounts, the Ministry noted, are the only channels authorised for receiving and managing donations meant for student welfare.
Officials stressed that no individual or organization has been permitted to collect funds on behalf of the Ministry, warning that any donations made to non-official accounts will be solely the responsibility of those entities.
While acknowledging the overwhelming public goodwill during this difficult period, the Ministry called on donors to remain cautious to prevent fraud and ensure that contributions reach affected students transparently and reliably.
