Maldives vows full support for Sri Lanka’s cyclone recovery

The President of the Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, has expressed his sorrow over the severe hardships faced by the people of Sri Lanka due to the devastating floods and landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwa.

He also stated that the Maldives will extend its fullest support to provide relief to the affected people, as well as during Sri Lanka’s rebuilding process.

During a telephone conversation held this afternoon (04) with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the President of the Maldives explained that the Government and the people of the Maldives stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Sri Lanka during this difficult time.

Dr Mohamed Muizzu further emphasised that Sri Lanka, as a sister nation, will not be left alone at any time.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake appreciated the assistance that the Maldives has continuously extended to Sri Lanka during every difficult period and stated that the heartfelt support of the Government and the people of the Maldives at this moment is a great source of strength to Sri Lanka.
