President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (04) paid his final respects to the late Group Captain Nirmal Siyambalapitiya, who lost his life while engaged in relief operations for disaster-affected communities.
Group Captain Siyambalapitiya died in a helicopter crash in Lunuwila, Wennappuwa, during a humanitarian mission.
The President visited the officer’s residence in Ratmalana, where the remains are lying, and offered condolences to his wife, parents, siblings and other family members.
Minister Nalinda Jayatissa and Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha, also attended the visit.
