Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya visited residents affected by severe flooding in Upper Bomiriya and surrounding areas following the nationwide devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwa and the overflow of the Kelani River.

During her visit to the Bomiriya Junior School, where displaced families are currently sheltered, the Prime Minister met with the affected residents and inquired into their wellbeing. She assessed the shortages faced by the displaced communities, including food and sanitation needs, and reviewed the government’s ongoing relief efforts.

Acknowledging the scale of the disaster, the Prime Minister extended her gratitude to all officials, volunteers, and emergency response teams working tirelessly to protect and support those impacted.

She also instructed political authorities and disaster management officials to swiftly identify and address the urgent needs of displaced families, ensuring timely assistance during this critical period.
