Residents in Dompe, Biyagama, and Kelaniya have been advised to evacuate immediately following urgent warnings issued by Gampaha District Secretary Lalinda Gamag. Authorities caution that minor flooding already being experienced in several areas could escalate into a severe flood situation within the next few hours.

According to officials, proactive measures are underway to relocate vulnerable families. Approximately 800 residents from Divulapitiya and Mirigama have already been moved to safer locations as the Ma Oya river overflowed earlier today.

The Department of Irrigation has further warned that low-lying areas near Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya, particularly around Gampaha town, may experience severe flooding within the next six hours. Emergency teams are on high alert as heavy rainfall continues across the region.

Authorities urge the public to stay vigilant, follow official instructions, and prioritize safety as weather conditions worsen.
