Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya will hold a diplomatic briefing today, 28 November 2025, at the Prime Minister’s Office to update Colombo-based Heads of Mission on the Government’s ongoing flood-relief and recovery operations. Heads of Mission and Posts of Sri Lanka’s diplomatic missions abroad will participate virtually.
The briefing will highlight measures to ensure the safety and security of affected communities and outline both immediate relief actions and post-flood recovery plans. Most diplomatic missions in Colombo are expected to express solidarity and support, and convey their readiness to cooperate with Sri Lankan authorities in providing humanitarian assistance and contributing to recovery efforts.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism has established an Emergency Response Unit to coordinate communication and assistance between Sri Lanka’s diplomatic missions abroad and those based in Colombo.
