Several areas in Colombo have been affected by the adverse weather conditions, resulting in fallen trees and flooding across multiple roads. In a statement, the Police Media Division said that reports continue to come in about obstructions caused by the severe weather, leading to significant traffic disruptions.
Police have advised motorists to use alternative routes until the affected areas are cleared. According to the statement, roads currently blocked include Premasiri Khemadasa Mawatha and Keppetipola Mawatha near Lionel Theatre, the area near National Hospital Gate 4, Elvitigala Mawatha, Queen’s Road Junction, and Kotahena Armor Barber Junction near the temple.
Authorities are working to remove debris and restore normal traffic flow. The public is urged to exercise caution and stay updated on road conditions as weather-related risks continue.
