According to the department, areas including Tissamaharama, Kataragama, and Buttala may experience significant flood conditions if water levels continue to rise.
Residents living in these regions, as well as motorists traveling through the affected areas, are urged to remain highly cautious and follow safety instructions issued by authorities.
The department further warned that certain structures—such as the Sapaththu Bridge—may become submerged due to rising water levels. People in vulnerable areas are advised to relocate to safe locations as a precautionary measure.
