According to the Met Department, the system strengthened rapidly over the past several hours, leading to the official designation of the cyclone, named “Ditwa”.
Authorities are closely monitoring its movement, as the cyclone’s proximity to Sri Lanka may bring strong winds, heavy rainfall, and rough seas to several parts of the island. Fishermen and naval communities have been urged to remain alert and avoid venturing into the deep sea areas affected by the system.
Further updates and warnings are expected as the cyclone progresses.
