Following a narrow 6-run defeat in the first match and an 8-wicket thrashing on Friday, the visitors are expected to make several changes as they look to address recurring batting and bowling concerns.
Despite multiple players getting starts, Sri Lanka have struggled to convert opportunities into big scores, producing only two half-centuries so far—through Wanindu Hasaranga and Janith Liyanage. In contrast, Pakistan have stamped their dominance with two centuries and three fifties, underlining the disparity in finishing ability.
Team management is now considering giving opportunities to Pavan Rathnayake, Lahiru Udara, Eshan Malinga, and Jeffrey Vandersay. Hasaranga, Sri Lanka’s top performer in the series, appeared to suffer a hamstring niggle during the second ODI, and may be rested. Vandersay is viewed as the likely replacement if that happens.
Sri Lanka’s bowling has also lacked penetration, managing only seven wickets across the two matches. With even Hasaranga going wicketless in the last game, selectors may turn to young seamer Eshan Malinga in an effort to strengthen the attack.
