Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday (13) inspected a special training programme aimed at enhancing the skills of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) attached to the Suwaseriya Foundation.

The five-day programme is being held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute and is conducted under the supervision of a team of paramedical science experts led by Professor Will Broughton of the University of Buckingham, UK. This is the fourth time the initiative has been organised.

According to the Ministry of Health, Professor Broughton and his expert team are providing their services entirely on a voluntary basis. They are not receiving any payment from Sri Lanka, while all related expenses including air travel are being covered by the British High Commission in Sri Lanka and the medical experts themselves.

The programme is expected to significantly strengthen the emergency response capabilities of EMTs, supporting Suwaseriya’s mission of delivering rapid and effective pre-hospital care across the country.
