Former England captain David Beckham has been formally knighted, receiving the honour of “Sir” in recognition of his contribution to football and public life.

The 50-year-old received the honour from Charles III, King of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth nations, during a ceremony at Windsor Castle to the west of London, on Tuesday (4 November). Beckham was accompanied by his wife Victoria, and parents Sandra and David.

Beckham, who was a torchbearer during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games London 2012, made 115 appearances for the England men's national team and captained the national side for six years.

He enjoyed a stellar club career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain. Beyond football, he has worked with UNICEF since 2005, launched the 7 Fund for UNICEF in 2015, and became an ambassador for the King’s Foundation in 2024.
