The Sri Lanka Army has refurbished and reactivated 76 long-unused vehicles under the direction of Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo.

The vehicles, which include trucks, buses, ambulances, vans, cabs, water bowsers, and gully bowsers, were modernized by the Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Regiment and reintroduced to service today (October 24) under the first phase of the project.

Implemented in collaboration with the Clean Sri Lanka Programme, the initiative aims to reduce foreign exchange spending on vehicle imports and is expected to save the Army around Rs. 10 million per month previously spent on rented vehicles.
