The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to raise the national minimum wage for private sector employees, in line with the 2025 Budget proposals.

This decision was officially enacted through a series of legislative amendments passed by Parliament on July 22, 2025, and will take effect from April 1, 2025.

According to the new regulations, the monthly minimum wage will increase from Rs. 17,500 to Rs. 27,000 starting April 2025, and will be further raised to Rs. 30,000 from January 2026.

The Ministry of Labour stated that this wage revision will also affect all statutory payments, including Employee Provident Fund (EPF), gratuity, overtime, bonuses, maternity benefits, and holiday pay, ensuring improved benefits for private sector workers across the country.
