CIABOC issues statement on complaint against Director General
The complaint alleged that Mr. Dissanayake had unlawfully secured admission for his child to a leading Colombo school in 2014.
According to the Commission, a preliminary inquiry was conducted under Section 42(1) of the Bribery Act on the directive of the Chairman and three members of CIABOC. Given that the complaint was against the sitting Director General, it was given priority and investigated without delay.
The inquiry obtained reports from the Judicial Service Commission and the school in question. It was found that the child’s admission had been carried out in line with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, following the Supreme Court ruling in case SCFR 235/2011 concerning the admission of children of judicial officers.
CIABOC further noted that not only Mr. Dissanayake’s child but several other children of judicial officers were admitted to Royal College, Colombo, during that same year under the same guidelines.
The Commission concluded that there was no evidence of procedural irregularity, favoritism, illegality, or political interference in the admission process.
