Namal denies links to drug container claims
Speaking to the media, Rajapaksa condemned the reports, stating that the accusations were politically motivated and lacked credible evidence.
“We are ready to face the allegations concerning these two containers of raw materials. Since the day the NPP and the Yahapalana government came to power, all they have done is accuse us,” he said. “We have been summoned before the CID, the Bribery Commission, the FCID and the courts. Likewise, we are prepared to face any investigation regarding these drug container claims.”
He further claimed that the government must disclose the identities of the individuals actually involved in the container incident, and warned that he would publicly expose those responsible for spreading the allegations and those benefiting from them.
“Until these accusations are proven false, I will reveal to the country both the motives behind these claims and those profiting from them,” he added.
The controversy stems from intelligence reports indicating that two containers suspected to contain precursor chemicals for narcotics were allowed to leave the port despite prior detection. The opposition has since demanded transparency and accountability over how the containers were cleared.
