The Scroll highlighting the successful conclusion of the annual Esala Maha Perahera of the historic Sri Dalada Maligawa and Sathara Maha Devala (The Four Chief Shrines) was formally received today (09) afternoon at the President's House in Kandy.

"I emphasized that, based on the achievements of the twentieth century as well as our historical heritage, we must build our identity as a unique nation. In this process, the Dalada Perahera festival serves as a pivotal cultural event, and such cultural celebrations should be further developed and made more appealing to the general public for the sake of the country’s future."

"I expressed my gratitude to the revered Malwatte and Asgiri Mahanayaka Theros and the entire Maha Sangha of the Ubhaya Maha Viharayas for their guidance in successfully organizing the Esala Maha Perahera festival. I also extended my thanks to the Diyawadana Nilame and the Sathara (four) Maha Devala Nilames as well as to all those who supported the event and all the artists who participated in the procession."
