The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) is fully prepared to host its 18th International Research Conference on the 30th of September and the 1st of October, according to Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral Dhammika Kumara.
He made this announcement during a special media briefing held today (August 7) at the Department of Government Information.
This year’s conference is themed "Realizing Interdisciplinary Research Boundaries for Sustainable Advancement." The Vice Chancellor noted that all 10 faculties of the university will present research papers under sub-themes aligned with the main theme.
The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Dato Jesvinder Singh, a senior academic from UNITAR International University in Malaysia. The event will also see participation from local and international university professors, lecturers, and students.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that participants from nine countries have already confirmed attendance and emphasized that KDU is the only defence university in the region.
A total of 600 research papers have been selected for presentation at this year’s conference, with submissions received from various sectors and countries.
Joining the media briefing, Senior Lecturer and Conference Secretary Dr. Darshani Jayakody said the conference aims to foster academic collaboration, encourage innovation, and strengthen research activities across disciplines.
