
CSE Ends July on Positive Note

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) wrapped up the final trading session of July on a positive trajectory, with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) gaining 76.33 points (+0.39%) to close at 19,642.48. The S&P SL20 index also edged up by 10.49 points (+0.18%) to settle at 5,762.17.
Market turnover was a solid LKR 5.66 billion, driven by 205.87 million shares traded. Crossings contributed 20% of total turnover (LKR 1.10 billion), indicating strong institutional activity. The Banking sector led trading, accounting for 27% of turnover.
Top gainers included Hayleys PLC, DFCC Bank, Browns Investments, NDB Bank, and Commercial Credit. Meanwhile, John Keells Holdings was the biggest drag on the index, along with COMB, MELS, HHL, and GLAS.
