The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) achieved a historic milestone today as the All Share Price Index (ASPI) soared past the 19,500-point mark for the first time in the Sri Lankan capital market’s history.

The ASPI climbed by 50.15 points during trading to close at an all-time high of 19,517.86 points, surpassing the previous record of 19,467.71 points set just a day earlier on July 25, 2025. The strong performance reflects growing investor confidence and sustained market momentum.

In parallel, the S&P SL20 Index, which tracks the performance of 20 leading companies listed on the CSE, also posted gains, rising by 19.47 points to end the day at 5,774.51 points.

Market activity remained robust, with the day’s turnover exceeding Rs. 6.16 billion, indicating heightened investor participation and interest in equity trading.

Market analysts attribute the rally to a combination of positive investor sentiment, strong corporate earnings, and expectations of continued economic recovery.
