Sri Lanka Climbs to 91st Place in 2025 Henley Passport Index

The Henley Passport Index, published annually using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ranks the world’s passports based on the number of countries they can access without a prior visa.
Global Highlights
Singapore holds the top position, reaffirming its passport as the most powerful globally.
Afghanistan remains at the bottom, offering access to only a few destinations.
The United States and the United Kingdom saw further decline, now ranking 10th and 6th respectively. The U.S., which once held the top position in 2014, is now at risk of dropping out of the top 10 for the first time in the index’s 20-year history.
India recorded the largest upward movement in 2025, jumping eight places to 77th with visa-free access to 59 destinations.
Saudi Arabia also made notable progress, adding access to four more countries and moving up to 54th place, with a total of 91 destinations.
This year's rankings reflect ongoing geopolitical shifts, bilateral agreements, and broader travel freedom trends in a post-pandemic world.
