
Sri Lanka Welcomes Over 116,000 Tourists in June 2025

India continues to lead as the top source market, contributing 32,977 arrivals in June alone — accounting for 28.3% of total tourist arrivals for the month. The United Kingdom followed with 9,429 visitors, while China contributed 7,326 arrivals. Bangladesh and Australia were also among the top five source countries, with 5,739 and 5,736 arrivals respectively.
Cumulatively, for the year 2025 up to June, Sri Lanka has welcomed a total of 1,146,272 tourists, underscoring a strong rebound in the sector post-pandemic and amid regional tourism promotion campaigns.
India once again leads the cumulative tally with 237,037 arrivals so far this year. Other key contributors include Russia with 112,118 visitors, and the United Kingdom with 105,703 arrivals.
Tourism remains a key pillar of Sri Lanka's economy, and authorities have expressed optimism about surpassing the 2 million tourist mark by the end of 2025, supported by targeted marketing initiatives and improved connectivity.
