The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) closed at a historic high today, marking a major milestone in Sri Lanka's capital market.

At the end of trading, the ASPI had gained 234.50 points, or 1.38%, to settle at 17,214.39, surpassing its previous record of 17,193.80, which was set on February 18, 2025.

The bullish momentum was also reflected in the S&P SL20 index, which tracks the performance of 20 leading companies. The index rose by 108.53 points, or 2.1%, to close at 5,143.45.

Market activity remained robust, with a daily turnover exceeding Rs. 7.3 billion, indicating strong investor confidence and heightened trading activity across multiple sectors.

Analysts attribute the rally to a mix of improved corporate earnings, positive investor sentiment, and expectations of favorable macroeconomic developments in the coming quarters.
