Special traffic plan in Colombo today for Malini Fonseka’s funeral

According to the Sri Lanka Police, the funeral procession will commence at 7:30 AM from the Jawatta Junction on Bauddhaloka Mawatha and proceed towards Borella.

 The procession will turn left at the Medland Place Junction and continue along Medland Place Road. At the Ministry of Public Administration Junction, it will again turn left onto Nidahas Mawatha and is expected to reach Independence Square by 9:00 AM.

While there will be no full road closures, the police have announced that traffic entering Nidahas Mawatha from the Nidahas Roundabout will be temporarily restricted for approximately 15 minutes as the procession moves along that section.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the procession and ceremony hours, as possible traffic congestion is expected on Nidahas Mawatha and Premakeerthi de Alwis Mawatha, near the Sri Lanka Television Corporation premises.

As an alternate route, vehicles traveling from the Free Roundabout to Bauddhaloka Mawatha are encouraged to proceed via Philip Gunawardena Mawatha towards Thummulla Junction, turn left near Royal College, and continue on Professor Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha to access Bauddhaloka Mawatha.

Police are urging the public to cooperate with the special traffic arrangements and to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays
