
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid his last respects to Malini Fonseka

Ex President Rajapaksa expressed deep sorrow over her death, describing her as the "Queen of Sinhala Cinema" and highlighting her exceptional contributions to the arts and culture of Sri Lanka. He praised her for her extraordinary acting talent, which earned her numerous accolades in cinema, television dramas, and theatre.
He also acknowledged her versatility as a director, producer, and politician, noting her service as a Member of Parliament from 2010 to 2015. He emphasized that Malini Fonseka's legacy would continue to shine on the stage of Sinhala cinema, even though she had taken her final bow from the stage of life.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said "I paid my final respects to the remains of the talented actress Malani Senehelatha Fonseka, who won the hearts of the people with her wide-ranging and exceptional acting abilities." It took place at the Tharangani Hall of the Film Corporation. Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa also attended the occasion.
"The void left by the loss of a personality endowed with rare star qualities and a deep sense of nationality can never truly be filled. With the passing of Malani Senehelatha Fonseka, who earned the unwavering love of both contemporary and future generations, an immensely long, beautiful, and quality era of Sinhala cinema has come to an end. I pray for the eternal peace of my dear fellow actress, Malani."
