The funeral of the late actress Malini Fonseka, widely revered as the "Queen of Sri Lankan Cinema," is scheduled to take place tomorrow, May 26, with full state honors at Independence Square in Colombo.

Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Professor Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, announced that the government has taken steps to honor the legacy of the beloved actress by organizing a state funeral in recognition of her immense contributions to Sri Lankan cinema and culture.

The remains of Mrs. Fonseka, who passed away at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo, will lie in state at the National Film Corporation premises today from 10:00 a.m., allowing fans and the public to pay their final respects.

Family members also confirmed that the public will have another opportunity to bid farewell at Independence Square tomorrow before the final rites are conducted.

Mrs. Samanali Fonseka, cousin of the late actress, extended a heartfelt invitation to all admirers to visit the Film Corporation today to pay their last respects.
