Weather advisory issued for heavy rainfall

The Department of Meteorology has announced that prevailing rainy conditions are expected to persist in the southwestern parts of the island due to the active southwest monsoon.
Heavy rainfall, exceeding 100 mm in some areas, is likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Significant showers are also expected in the districts of Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya, and Kandy.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions against potential flash floods, landslides, and waterlogging. Authorities urge the public to remain updated with official weather alerts and to prioritize safety during this period of intense rainfall.
