13 Injured in an accident on Colombo–Wellawaya main road

At least 13 people were injured in a road accident that occurred early this morning in the Weliara area along the Colombo–Wellawaya main road.

The incident took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. when a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus travelling from Batticaloa to Galle collided with the rear of a tipper truck that was moving ahead of it.

According to Sri Lanka Police, the impact of the collision left 12 passengers on the bus injured, along with the driver of the tipper truck. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
