Sri Lanka Parliament to meet again today

Proceedings will commence at 9.30 a.m. with parliamentary business outlined in Standing Orders 22, paragraphs 1 to 6. This session will be followed by the customary time for oral questions from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., after which questions falling under Standing Order 27(2) will be addressed between 11.00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.
The second reading of the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill is scheduled to begin at 11.30 a.m. and will continue until 5.00 p.m., marking a significant step in the government's effort to reform aspects of the criminal justice system.
In addition, the Foreign Debt (Removal) Bill, which had its first reading in Parliament on May 8, 2025, is also slated for a second reading during the session—provided no legal challenge is made under Article 121 of the Constitution within the stipulated timeframe.
To conclude the day, time from 5.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. has been allocated for questions to be presented during the adjournment period.
