Ramith Rambukwella arrested

The arrest follows a court order naming him as a suspect in a case involving the alleged misuse of public funds during his father's tenure at the Ministry of Health. 

The arrest of Ramith Rambukwella adds to the legal challenges facing his father, Keheliya Rambukwella, who was previously arrested by the Bribery Commission in connection with three complaints related to corruption.  The Colombo Chief Magistrate has further remanded the former minister until June 3, 2025, over the case  .

As investigations continue, the CIABOC is expected to take further legal actions, including seeking extensions of freezing orders on assets linked to the Rambukwella family, to prevent the dissipation of potentially illicitly acquired wealth.
