
Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya receives death threats via email

According to the Minister, a formal complaint was filed by an Additional Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office following the alarming emails. In response, authorities launched an immediate investigation into the origins of the threats.
Minister Wijepala stated that Google provided a detailed report on the Gmail accounts used in the incident. The analysis revealed that the IP addresses linked to the threatening emails originated from Germany and the Netherlands.
The Sri Lankan government has since made formal requests to Interpol for further investigation and detailed reports regarding the foreign IP addresses. Security around the Prime Minister has also been heightened in light of the threats.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the content of the threats or whether any suspects have been identified.
