
Parliament to Convene from tomorrow May 20 to 23

According to the Parliamentary Communications Department, the sittings will begin at 9.30 a.m. each day. On the opening day tomorrow (20), the House will debate an order under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act.
On Tuesday, May 21, Parliament will turn its attention to an order under the Finance Act No. 25 of 2003 and a notification issued under the Finance Act No. 35 of 2018.
A total of ten resolutions under the Import and Export (Control) Act and Section 8 of the Appropriation Act No. 34 of 2023 are scheduled to be debated on Thursday, May 22.
The week will conclude with the second reading debate of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill on Friday, May 23.
These debates mark an important legislative week for Parliament as it addresses a range of economic, regulatory, and legal reforms.
