Minister Nalinda Jayatissa departs for Switzerland

Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa departed for Switzerland this morning to represent Sri Lanka at the 78th World Health Assembly, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO). The event is set to take place in Geneva from May 19 to 27 under the theme “One World for Health.”
Health ministers from all WHO member states are expected to participate in this year’s assembly, alongside more than 15,000 government officials from around the world. The assembly will serve as a global platform for dialogue on health-related issues, where key proposals, policy ideas, and research findings will be shared to shape international health policies for the coming year.
Dr. Jayatissa will be joined by a high-level Sri Lankan delegation, including Secretary to the Ministry of Health Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Himali Arunatilaka, and First Secretary to the UN Mission Nishanthini Victor, among other officials.
The Sri Lankan delegation is expected to actively contribute to policy discussions and strategic planning aimed at enhancing global health standards and collaborative responses to current and emerging health challenges.
