
Navy athletes shine at 2025 Inter-command championship

The finals of Inter-Command Athletic Championship – 2025 came to a thrilling conclusion on 10 and 11 May 25 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Diyagama. The Training Command stole the show with both men’s and women’s championships.
The championship, which was held over two (02) days, saw athletes from each Naval Command come together to compete in a range of track and field events. Proving their mettle in the championship, the Western Naval Command seized runner-up positions in the men’s and women’s divisions.
The award for the Best Athlete (Women) was won by Woman Recruit DMI Chathuri and the trophy for the Best Athlete (Men) was secured by Able Physical Training Instructor NMG Thathsara, in recognition of their noteworthy performances.
The Sri Lanka Navy anticipates its Inter-Command Athletic Championship to help keep its personnel in peak physical and mental condition. This initiative ensures that the Navy can perform its duties with greater efficiency while also nurturing talented athletes for national-level competition.
